Chair, Department of Psychiatry
The University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine (FoM) invite
applications and nominations for the above noted position.
The University of Ottawa is Canada's largest bilingual

in medical education and ranks among the top faculties of
medicine worldfwide for research intensity and impact.
The Department of Psychiatry takes pride in providing
excellence in mental health care, training and research. They
span 5 hospitals, 5 research institutes as well as individuals
working in the community. They offer a range of research
programs encompassing functional brain imaging,
psychopharmacology, mortality in mood disorders,
systematic review science, forensic psychiatry, child and
adolescent psychiatry and trauma, suicide prevention and
clinical trials in underserved populations.
The successful candidate will lead the Department
of Psychiatry with its:
• National and international leaders in clinical care,
education and research;
• Collegial and engaged medical school
• Extensive undergraduate, postgraduate and clinical
fellowship training programs.
Applicants must meet the following qualifications:
• Demonstrate substantial administrative and leadership
skills; including ability to promote academic
advancement, and facilitate research; and have a proven
record of achieverment in comprehensive patient care,
clinicial program development, education, research, and/
or quality assurance;
• Experience to promote and sustain innovation and
collaborative partnerships across all affiliated partners;
• Accomplished clinician who is in good standing with the
Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC), or
equivalent;
• Candidates must be eligible for a university rank of
Associate or Full Professor;
• Eligibility for medical licensure in Ontario; and
• Fluency in one official language with at least a passive
knowledge of the other.
Location & Compensation:
Time allocation: 2 days per week. Consideration will be
given to flexible work arrangements to allow the demands
of the service to be spread over the entire week.
Compensation will be both competitive and
commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience.
The duration of the appointment would be up to 5 years,
renewable once.
